This study takes an in-depth look at how climate change will affect the Truckee River Basin, which includes the Truckee and Carson Rivers and Lake Tahoe. Temperatures are expected to increase up to 5 degrees by the end of the century, and precipitation will change from snow to rain. Evaporation from Lake Tahoe will increase, as will the frequency and intensity of floods. Lower magnitude floods alone will increase by 20% by 2050.
